Totem

A totem is a spirit being, sacred object, or symbol that serves as an emblem of a group of people, such as a family, clan, lineage, or tribe.
Each painting in this series represents a spirit, a figure with bilateral symmetry. The paintings can be combined with each other to create vertical columns.

This concept refers to the totem poles of the North American Indians where figures are placed on top of each other to symbolize or commemorate ancestors, cultural beliefs that recount familiar legends, clan lineages, or notable events.

They can also be seen as evolving natural forms, an evolution of new anatomy, the shaping of time, generations and spirits to come.
